The decade when gerald-weinberg established his intellectual foundations. psychology-of-computer-programming-1971 launched the field of programming psychology. introduction-to-general-systems-thinking-1975 provided the theoretical framework that would underpin all his later work. The ethnotechnical-review-handbook-1979 began codifying technical-reviews-and-walkthroughs. By the end of this decade, Weinberg had moved from IBM to independence, founding weinberg-and-weinberg as a consulting practice. His unique combination — programming experience, psychological insight, systems thinking — was established. The decade also produced structured-programming-in-plc-1973 and high-level-cobol-programming-1977, more technically oriented works that demonstrate the breadth of his output before his focus narrowed to the human dimensions of software.
