Kanban from the Inside (2014) by mike-burrows, published by blue-hole-press, is the most widely-read third-party book on the kanban-method. Burrows, an accredited Kanban trainer, organized the book around the method's underlying values rather than its practices — an approach that complemented Anderson's more practice-focused kanban-book.

The book helped make the Kanban Method accessible to practitioners who found Anderson's original text dense with theoretical apparatus. Its emphasis on the "why" behind the practices contributed to the community's understanding of Kanban as a values-based approach to organizational improvement, not merely a set of board-management techniques.
