Blue Hole Press is Anderson's publishing imprint, established to publish the kanban-book in May 2010. The decision to self-publish through a personal imprint rather than through a commercial publisher gave Anderson control over pricing, distribution, and the book's positioning — a choice consistent with the Kanban community's practitioner-led culture.

The kanban-book-publication through Blue Hole Press in 2010 produced a work that has sold over 40,000 copies in eight languages, demonstrating that self-published technical works can achieve substantial commercial and intellectual impact without traditional publishing infrastructure. The success of the Kanban book through Blue Hole Press prefigured a broader trend in Agile and Lean publishing, where practitioner-authored books published through independent or self-publishing imprints have often outperformed traditionally published alternatives in specialized technical communities.

Blue Hole Press has published Anderson's subsequent books as well, maintaining the direct-to-community distribution model established with the Kanban book.
