YOUTH 95
``` Date: Wed, 27 Sep 1995 10:22:57 +1200 From: Anne.Hugo@educ.utas.edu.au (A.Hugo) Subject: Conference announcement: YOUTH 95
YOUTH 95: International & Cross cultural issues, challenges and change 7 to 10 November 1995, Wrest Point Hotel Casino Hobart, Tasmania (Australia) hosted by the National Clearinghouse of Youth Studies, Australia http://info.utas.edu.au/docs/ahugo/NCYS/events.html
Young people in many regions of the world are currently experiencing the trauma of violence and dislocation in regional disputes and wars. At the same time, young people from the immigrant populations of countries such as Australia are on a cultural identity see saw, and the indigenous youth of these countries have the on-going challenge of asserting their culture and their place in their own home lands. Woven through these issues is the increasing internationalisation of youth culture.
Youth 95 will focus on these issues, identifying the contemporary and future challenges, internationally and cross culturally, that are faced by young people and by those who work in the youth field. How should we respond to these challenges and to the societal changes affecting those who will be the adults and the decision makers of the next century?
Youth 95 is a 3 day symposium and will cover these issues through research presentations, interactive workshops and a networking day. YOUTH 95 will provide a stimulating forum for those with a professional interest in the youth field, such as researchers, practitioners, educators, policy makers and service providers.
