This is a "heads up" invitation to participate in the first Virtual CivicNet conference!
Virtual CivicNet will take place on the web from May 22 - June 30. It will include spotlight conversations with key thinkers and catalysts like Carolyn Lukensmeyer, director of America Speaks, Catherine Weldon, Director of Community Networks Inc., and Howard Rheingold, author of The Virtual Community. There will also be "open space" for dialogue on participant-generated topics and facilitated online workshops using community involvement processes like Scenarios and Future Search. Virtual exhibits will provide opportunities to link to vendors, projects and other sites with interesting technology and information related to civic networking. Everyone who participates will be able to shape the program around their ideas and interests.
We'll be using a variety of web-based tools for Virtual CivicNet including web-conferencing, chat, video broadcast, audio clips, and more. This will be a valuable and FUN opportunity to experience some different media while working on moving on aspects of our shared agenda around civic networking. Dialogue and materials from Virtual CivicNet will be published on the web and in other media so that ideas are shared as widely as possible.
Registration for Virtual CivicNet is $50 and all you'll need to participate is access to the web with any standard web-browser.
Virtual CivicNet is a collaborative project of the Center for Civic Networking, Metasystems Design Group and Global Telematics.

We're looking forward to hearing your ideas about how to make Virtual CivicNet a place to do what needs to be done next!
