Overview
Agre's institutional home from approximately 1996 until his withdrawal from academic life. The Department of Information Studies (now the Department of Information Studies in the Graduate School of Education & Information Studies) provided an interdisciplinary setting that suited Agre's post-AI Lab work far better than a traditional computer science department.
It was from UCLA that Agre published his most influential political and institutional writings, ran RRE at its peak, and engaged most fully with questions of technology policy and democratic design.
