[RRE]Summer Webcastings of De HoeksteenNet

``` [I have heavily reformatted this. I'm circulating it not only for its content but also because it's a good sign that people are now starting to advertise regular net broadcasts of events. See also the BBC's well- produced online versions of Anthony Giddens' lectures on globalization , as well as the @Annenberg online events from our cross-town friends at USC, including a speech by Manuel Castells at a conference on information technology and higher education at the end of October at which I'll also be giving a revised version of my "visible colleges" paper. @Annenberg can be found at , and the conference site can be found at .]
The Summer Webcastings of De HoeksteenNet.
From July 5th 1999 on De HoeksteenNet will webcast a series of programs from the headquarters of the DDS (the Digital city in Amsterdam) Titled "the Summer webcastings of De HoeksteenNet"
After six years of local television programming for Salto (Amsterdam local television) De Hoeksteen Communications concentrates now in international programing via real video in the world wide web. he main goal of this new project is not only to program for an international viewer ship but also to incorporate users and make them active participants of these series by means of point - to - point and multipoint video conferencing, moderated discussion groups, IRC, ICQ and e-mail as well - of course- as telephone and fax.
All programming of De Hoeksteen Live! Television was webcasted from 1994 until the very last program in April 1998 but this is the first time that all energy and effort will be concentrated in streaming media and the interaction with IRC, e-mail and all the rest.
Programming includes politics, finances, international relations, culture, communications and current affairs. Interviews, discussions commentaries and round tables will be conducted in Dutch, English, Spanish, Italian, German and French at first but one of the main, long term objectives is to enlarge the number of languages in the best possible way.
Theater, music and the visual arts are an integral part of the programming and groups and individuals are encouraged to participate and to incorporate the interactive facilities available from the DDS in their contributions to the webcastings.
All programming is transmitted in two different channels one for users with ISDN, ADSL, T1 and Cable Modem and a second one for users with regular telephone lines.
The Summer Webcastings of De HoeksteenNet is a co-operation of De Hoeksteen and the DDS in Amsterdam
