On November 28, 12 Noon (PDT), 7:00 PM (GMT), the CyberForum continues its Fall 2000 series "Avatecture". The Tuesday session takes place in VWD world (Eduverse Universe) and simultaneously at the Digital Arts EDA lecture space on the UCLA campus. Participate with both avatar world and high-quality video stream side-by-side on your desktop.

The Wednesday session also takes place in VWD world (Eduverse) and simultaneously at the UCLA Visualization Portal on the UCLA campus. Participate with both avatar world and high-quality video stream side-by-side on your desktop.

Virtual: Download browser from www.mheim.com/cyberforum and open video stream from www.design.ucla.edu/eda/eda.html

Physical: 1473 Dickson Art Center (northeast corner of the UCLA campus) in Westwood, and UCLA Visualization Portal, Room 5308 in UCLA Math Sciences Building.

The public is invited to grab an avatar and participate in the ongoing events. (See How-To below.)

CyberForum presents real-time online author chats in 3D worlds. The Fall CyberForum examines the notion of "avatecture," which is the merger of avatar and physical environments. The Forum consists of panel discussions, avatar rituals, and interactive thought experiments.

Past CyberForum speakers have included: Howard Bloom, Francis Heylighen, Cliff Joslyn, Niranjan Rajah, Bruce Damer, Carol Gigliotti, Katherine Hayles, Michael Heim, Brenda Laurel, Peter Lunenfeld, Lev Manovich, and William J. Mitchell.

How To Participate: Download the free Eduverse 3D browser from http://www.activeworlds.com/edu/awedu_download.html

Install the software and enter as a tourist in Eduverse. The left panel of the Eduverse browser shows a list of worlds. Choose "VWD" world and follow the other avatars to the Forum location. The Virtual Worlds Team at Art Center will be there to guide you.
