The International Journal of Research on New Information and
Communication Technologies
New Media: Technology, Society, Culture is being launched to provide a
forum for social sciences, cultural studies and innovation and policy
studies perspectives on the emergence, adoption and implications of
new information and communication technologies, and their applications
in the form of new media products and services.
Themes to be addressed include:
The specific characteristics and implications of the new media,
technologies and services
Socio-economic, cultural and political factors shaping the emergence,
application, diffusion and use of the new ICTs
Patterns of processes of demand, consumption and use of new/innovative
technologies, media and cultural forms
Critical studies of regulatory and other public policy implications of
new media innovations
Contending and conflicting approaches to key issues and concepts
The journal is being edited by Paschal Preston from Dublin City
University and will be published by SAGE Publications from July 1996.
