Hi Folks,
Given the recent spate of discussion of local government issues, I thought it might be appropriate to repost this:
Municipal Telecommunications Mailing List
---
This list focuses on the design, use, and policy of municipal telecommunications networks, including regional networks supporting multiple municipalities (e.g. regional library networks).
Currently, this list is open to all subscribers, but our intent is that this be a forum for municipal officials and staff, such as MIS directors, telecom directors, cable commissioners, GIS system managers, library automation managers, dispatch system operators, etc.; and secondarily a forum for those who provide equipment and services to the municipal telecom environment.
The intent is to focus on nitty gritty design issues surrounding the construction of municipal networks, including:
This list is not intended for the discussion of community networks other than as they are supported by and interact with municipal networks - i.e. this is not COMMUNET.
This list is not intended for the discussion of regulatory issues, other than as they impact municipal acquisition of networking facilities and services - i.e. this is not telecomreg.
Subscription requests, info requests, and unsubscribe requests should be sent to the automated list manager at majordomo@civicnet.org - NOT to the list itself (muni-telecom). The following commands, typed EXACTLY as shown (i.e. don't put you name or address after a command), will be recognized by majordomo:
help info muni-telecom subscribe muni-telecom unsubscribe muni-telecom
help will send back more info on majordomo info will send back info on the list subscribe will add you to the list unsubscribe will remove you
If you have a signature at the end of your message, put a single line containing the word end after your commands to majordomo - otherwise majordomo will try to act on your signature and send back errors.
To send a message to the list, send it to muni-telecom@civicnet.org
To reach the (human) list owner, send to muni-telecom-owner@civicnet.org
