Announcing a New Annual Publication by the MIS Quarterly
MIS Review
MIS Review is a new annual publication of the MIS Quarterly. Its mission is to promote MIS research by publishing articles that conceptualize research areas and survey and synthesize prior research. These articles will provide important input in setting directions for future research. MIS Review is designed as a readily available, widely recognized repository of the accumulated knowledge and research progress in the field of information systems.
MIS Review will focus on original, high-quality review articles by accomplished scholars. Both commissioned and submitted articles will be published. Leading scholars may be invited to write articles on their area of specialty; any scholar may submit an article for publication consideration. Scholars who wish to submit articles may obtain advice on suitability by sending the Senior Editor for MIS Review an abstract and outline of the proposed manuscript.
Published articles will be broad in scope relative to a topic area and embrace multiple studies. They will be selected for their contribution to the development of MIS as an academic discipline by synthesizing prior research and providing a conceptual foundation for future research. The survey of research on a topic should include the major relevant work by scholars who are part of the international community of researchers. Articles fitting these criteria are expected to be in the range of 30 to 50 pages, including bibliography, when published.
The review process is designed to enhance the quality of published articles and aid in identification of important contributions to the topic area. All articles will be reviewed by two or three senior scholars familiar with the topic of the article. The quality of MIS Review will be consistent with the high quality of the MIS Quarterly.
Further information on submission dates, publication schedule, and subscriptions will appear in the next issue of the MIS Quarterly. In general, MIS Review will follow the manuscript guidelines for the MIS Quarterly. The Senior Editor of MIS Review, Richard T. Watson (RWATSON@BLAZE.CBA.UGA.EDU) of the University of Georgia, is also a Senior Editor of the MIS Quarterly.
