Connections 98 Conference Call for Papers
The University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Information and Media Studies, is hosting the fourth annual Connections conference in London, Ontario, Canada, on October 24th and 25th, 1998. This conference will provide a forum for the exchange of research among doctoral students from all library and information science related fields. Possible topics for conference papers include, but are not limited to:
abstracting and indexing archival theory and practice digital libraries electronic documents history of publishing, authorship, and reading human-computer interaction imaging and multimedia information management information needs and uses information policy information retrieval information systems and architecture Internet and World Wide Web knowledge management management of information in organizations media and communication studies museum studies
Abstracts submissions will be accepted from currently enrolled doctoral students. Reports of research in progress as well as recently completed studies are welcome. Students engaged in the early phases of doctoral work are encouraged to submit abstracts which explore theoretical or other elements related to their proposed dissertation topics. Please note that presentations accepted for the conference will be limited to 15 minutes, followed by a 5 minute discussion period. Abstracts which have been accepted will be printed in a proceedings volume to be distributed at the conference, and will be posted on the Connections 98 web site.
Please submit an abstract of no more than 300 words by July 31, 1998. All abstracts submitted will be blind refereed by doctoral students and faculty at the host institution. Presenters will be notified of their status by September 4, 1998.
Both hard copy and electronic submissions will be accepted. Those submitting abstracts in print form are asked to provide three (3) copies. Electronic submissions must be submitted as part of the text of an electronic mail message, or in ASCII format.
