Overview
David Chapman was Agre's closest collaborator during the MIT AI Lab period. Together they developed the Pengi system and the deictic representation framework. Chapman's own work, particularly on "do the right thing" planning, was closely related to Agre's critique of classical planning.
Chapman later moved away from academic AI research. His relationship with Agre represents the most important intellectual partnership of Agre's early career.
