ANNOUNCEMENT CALL FOR PARTICIPATION AND SUBMISSIONS

First Meeting of the newly formed IFI W G 8.7 INFORMATICS IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS ENTERPRISES 11 January 1997, Maui, Hawaii (together with/after HICSS-30)

We are happy to report that IFIP officially approved the new working group WG 8.7 (Informatics in International Business Enterprises) at the IFIP World Conference in Canberra, Australia in August 1996.

The first meeting of this new group will be held in conjunction with HICSS-30, the Thirtieth Annual Hawaii International Conference on Systems Sciences, a conference that has a long tradition of discussing IT in international business.

For the first meeting of WG 8.7 an informal format was chosen. The first WG 8.7 session will be during the last paper-slot of the minitrack 'Information Systems in Global Business' (the exact time will, in HICSS tradition, not be announced until the conference). On Saturday, January 11, 1997, researchers interested in global IT issues will meet to discuss their research plans, present research proposals or research in progress. The meeting should enable participants to network with colleagues from all over the world, discuss their research agendas, and find co-investigators for international projects.

The meeting will also be used to plan the agenda of the first working conference of WG 8.7 to be scheduled for later in 1997.

Interested participants are invited to provide a short (3-4 page) submission with research proposals or summaries of research in progress they would like to discuss (together with a 50-100 word abstract for distribution over the mailing list). The details of the "Call for submissions" can be found on:

http://comu2.auckland.ac.nz/~ifip/call-sub.htm)

or can be requested from Lore Alkier (alkier@wu-wien.ac.at).

A mailing list for WG 8.7 has been set up at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (post to: wg8.7@wi.wu-wien.ac.at) where information regarding this workshop will be distributed. To subscribe to this mailing list please send the following message to listserv@wi.wu-wien.ac.at (but leave the 'subject' free):
