An academic treatment of Boyd's intellectual contributions by Grant T. Hammond, a professor at the Air War College. More focused on Boyd's ideas and their intellectual context than Coram's biographical narrative, "The Mind of War" provides deeper analysis of Boyd's strategic theories — including the OODA loop and Destruction and Creation — and their relationship to military thought.
Hammond later edited the Air University Press compilation of Boyd's briefings, "A Discourse on Winning and Losing" (2018), making the complete collection available in print for the first time.
